Robert Salomon

I was an 18 year old coming from a large city that eventually brought me down to serve six months on Betio Island. It was September 1946 and was in the Army. The war being over we were eventually the last to leave the island it being belonging to the United Kingdom. Coming from a large city, being 18 and being stationed on a small "sandbar" was an experience that I will never forget. The devastation showed all over the island. Would like to share stories with other Marine or Army personnel.
