Note: There are (8) Navajo Marines that participated with the 2nd Marine Division, 8th Marines at Betio. The Navajo Code Talkers should have been used in the early waves at Red 1 or 2 for better coordination and landings. Thereafter, the Navajo Code Talkers and the Navajo Radio Network were used throughout the South Pacific.(Sample: C-Cat>Mo'si; O-Owl.Ne''eshiaa'; M-Mouse>Na'a'sts'; B-Bear>Shash; A-Ant>Wo'la'chi'i'; T-Turkey>Tazhii meaning COMBAT.
